I have made this for years, And keep changing it. No one has told me it has no flavor. Sometimes if I have it I add ham cubes. Then not add as much salt.

  • 5 lb
    of potatoes
  • 4 stalk(s)
    stalks of celery
  • 1 large
  • 1-2 pkg
    instant potatoes (betty crocker butter herb)
  • 6 slice
    strips of bacon
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 3 c
    milk, whole
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 pkg
    sherreded carrots
  • 1 pkg
    diced ham

How to Make Homemade Potato Soup.


  1. Peel and cube the potatoes Put the pot on to boil. Use a stock pot.
  2. In frying pan sautee onions, celery,carrots and bacon and diced ham. Add this mixture to the boiling potatoes.
  3. Mash the potatoes in same pot as cooked in. Leaving some chuncks.
  4. Add butter and milk. salt and pepper. Then stir in Instant potatoes to thicken.
