Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups water, boiling
  • 2 - chicken bouillon cubes
  • 16 ounces tomatoes, canned
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup celery stalks cut diagonally in thin slices
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

How To Make hearty vegetable soup

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in a 3 to 4 quart pot; bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve bouillon cubes.
  • Step 2
    Cover and simmer gently for 1 hour; stir occasionally to break up tomatoes into bite-sized pieces.
