french onion soup (crock pot)

Ingredients

  • 4 - onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 - minced garlic clove
  • 6 slices french bread
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

How To Make french onion soup (crock pot)

  • Step 1
    Using a large frying pan, slowly saute the onions in butter until limp and glazed.
  • Step 2
    Transfer to crockpot.
  • Step 3
    Add beef stock, white wine, sherry, worcestershire and garlic.
  • Step 4
    Cover.
  • Step 5
    Cook on low (200) 6 to 8 hours.
  • Step 6
    Place buttered french bread on a baking sheet.
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 8
    Place under preheated broiler until lightly toasted.
  • Step 9
    To serve, ladle soup into bowl.
  • Step 10
    Float a slice of toasted french bread on top.
