Ingredients
- 32 ounces beef broth
- 4 - sliced large onions
- 1 cup butter or margerine
- 4 cups - hot water
- 1 package dry onion soup mix
- 8 slices - swiss or gruyere cheese
- 4 slices french bread toasted
How To Make french onion soup

Step 1Melt the butter in a heavy stockpot sprayed with cooking spray. Carmelize the onions in the melted butter on the stove until they are golden brown.

Step 2Add the beef broth, hot water, dry onion soup mix and bring it to a boil. Toast the french bread slices while the soup is simmering.

Step 3Simmer all the ingredients at least 30 minutes. Serve it up in individual ovenproof bowls. Top with the french bread then layer 2 slices of cheese on top. Broil in the oven until the cheese is melted. Broil time varies for each oven. Serve and enjoy!
