How to Make French Onion Soup
- 1Melt the butter in a heavy stockpot sprayed with cooking spray.
Carmelize the onions in the melted butter on the stove until they are golden brown.
- 2Add the beef broth, hot water, dry onion soup mix and bring it to a boil. Toast the french bread slices while the soup is simmering.
- 3Simmer all the ingredients at least 30 minutes.
Serve it up in individual ovenproof bowls. Top with the french bread then layer 2 slices of cheese on top. Broil in the oven until the cheese is melted. Broil time varies for each oven. Serve and enjoy!
