Got this recipe from my daughter and it's as good as or better than restaurant French Onion Soup.

Ingredients

  • 3 large - sliced onion
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4-1/2 cup red wine
  • 4 cans beef broth (soup)
  • 2-1/2 can water
  • 3-4 - beef bouillon, cubes
  • - toasted french bread
  • - mozarella cheese or your choice
  • - parmesan cheese

How To Make french onion soup

  • Step 1
    Slice onion and put in large pot.
  • Step 2
    Spray with butter or add 2 tbsp butter. Saute until onions are soft
  • Step 3
    Stir in sugar and flour and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Add 4 cans beef soup, 2-1/2 cans of water and bouillon cubes.
  • Step 5
    Simmer for 40 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Put soup in oven safe bowls, top with toasted bread and cheeses. Broil until cheese is melted and slightly browned.
  • Step 7
    Serve with a salad and more bread if desired.
