Stove Top

Ingredients

  • 5 c
    onions, sliced
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 qt
    beef stock, boiling
  • 1/2 c
    dry white wine
  • 1 pkg
    croutons
  • ·
    grated parmesan cheese

How to Make French Onion Soup 2, Mom

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook onions with butter and oil over low heat in covered 4 quart saucepan for 15 min. Uncover, stir in salt and sugar. Cook 35 min on moderate heat, stirring frequently. Sprinkle with flour, cook 3 min. Remove from heat and blend in beef stock, wine and seasonings. Simmer, partly covered for 35 min. Serve with croutons and chees. Add salt and pepper to taste.
