    onion, cut in thin slices
  • 40 g
    butter, unsalted, cut in pieces
  • 120 g
    red wine
  • 30 g
    cognac
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 120 g
    chicken broth
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1
    baguette, cut in slices
  • 40 g
    gruyere cheese, cut in slices
  • 1 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp
    dried basil leaves

How To Make french onion soup

    Place onion and butter into mixing bowl.

    Cook 10 mins/140°C/speed 2.5. Transfer into the bowl.

    Add red wine and cognac into mixing bowl.

    Without measuring cup, cook 8 mins/120°C/speed 2.5.

    Add flour, chicken broth and salt into mixing bowl.

    Without measuring cup, cook 30 mins/110°C/speed 2.

    Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pour the soup into 4 ceramic soup bowl.

    Place bagutte slices and gruyere cheese on the top of the soup. Toast in the oven (200°C) for 25-30 mins.

    Sprinkle the black pepper and dried basil leaves and serve hot.
