Ingredients
- 600 grams onion, cut in thin slices
- 40 grams butter, unsalted, cut in pieces
- 120 grams red wine
- 30 grams cognac
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 120 grams chicken broth
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 - baguette, cut in slices
- 40 grams gruyere cheese, cut in slices
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon dried basil leaves
How To Make french onion soup

Step 1Place onion and butter into mixing bowl.

Step 2Cook 10 mins/140°C/speed 2.5. Transfer into the bowl.

Step 3Add red wine and cognac into mixing bowl.

Step 4Without measuring cup, cook 8 mins/120°C/speed 2.5.

Step 5Add flour, chicken broth and salt into mixing bowl.

Step 6Without measuring cup, cook 30 mins/110°C/speed 2.

Step 7Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pour the soup into 4 ceramic soup bowl.

Step 8Place bagutte slices and gruyere cheese on the top of the soup. Toast in the oven (200°C) for 25-30 mins.

Step 9Sprinkle the black pepper and dried basil leaves and serve hot.
