Ingredients

  • 600 grams onion, cut in thin slices
  • 40 grams butter, unsalted, cut in pieces
  • 120 grams red wine
  • 30 grams cognac
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 120 grams chicken broth
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 - baguette, cut in slices
  • 40 grams gruyere cheese, cut in slices
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil leaves

How To Make french onion soup

  • Step 1
    Place onion and butter into mixing bowl.
  • Step 2
    Cook 10 mins/140°C/speed 2.5. Transfer into the bowl.
  • Step 3
    Add red wine and cognac into mixing bowl.
  • Step 4
    Without measuring cup, cook 8 mins/120°C/speed 2.5.
  • Step 5
    Add flour, chicken broth and salt into mixing bowl.
  • Step 6
    Without measuring cup, cook 30 mins/110°C/speed 2.
  • Step 7
    Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pour the soup into 4 ceramic soup bowl.
  • Step 8
    Place bagutte slices and gruyere cheese on the top of the soup. Toast in the oven (200°C) for 25-30 mins.
  • Step 9
    Sprinkle the black pepper and dried basil leaves and serve hot.
