I love cabbage soup and this new twist is very tasty according to my husband.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound pork sausage, mild
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large celery stalks
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 2 medium red potatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons butter

How To Make cabbage soup

  • Step 1
    Brown pork sausage in large soup pot, add diced onion and celery continue to brown.
  • Step 2
    Add a small amount of chicken broth before adding 1/2 of the head of cabbage cubed, allow cabbage to brown.
  • Step 3
    Meanwhile place both red potatoes in microwave to pre-cook.
  • Step 4
    After potatoes are soft enough, leave skin on for touch of color, cube and add to soup pot.
  • Step 5
    Add 2 tablespoons of butter, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6
    Add rest of chicken stock, remaining cabbage sliced or cubed and water for desired thickness; heat until tender.
  • Step 7
    Serve and enjoy!
