This recipe is the BEST Basil Tomato soup I have ever mastered. I LOVE the richness of this dreamy soup. Great for a chilly fall night!

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 1 14.5 oz
    can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 14.5 oz
    can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 14.5 oz
    can of chicken broth
  • 20
    fresh basil leaves (thinly sliced)
  • 1 11.5 oz
    can of v8
  • 1 c
    heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 c
    butter

How to Make Tomato and Basil Soup

Step-by-Step

  1. In large Saucepan, combine tomatoes, V-8 & chicken broth. Bring to boil and cook 30 minutes on medium heat
  2. Stir in Basil slices (or puree if you want). Add Cream and Butter.
  3. Return to heat, stir until butter melts. S&P to taste
    Serve immediately.
  4. Can Also do the following add ins:
    Saute chopped onion with minced garlic and dab of brown sugar in EVOO or Butter for richer flavor.
  5. Can also add in the following spices;
    Oregano, Italian mix dry herbs, Garlic Salt & Garlic Powder.
