This is just a good hearty soup. It is filling, warm, and good. Living where I live, I always make it in the winter.

1 lb
pork sausage
1 lb
kielbasa, diced
1 medium
onion, diced
2 stalk(s)
celery, diced (include some leaves if you have them)
1 1/2 c
shredded carrot
1 tsp
dried thyme
bay leaves
6 c
chicken stock, broth, or boullion
1/3 c
dry white rice
1 bag(s)
frozen chopped broccoli
1 can(s)
12 oz. evaporated milk
10 slice
american cheese
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Sausage, Rice, and Broccoli Soup


  • 1Dice all vegetables. Dice kielbasa. Set aside.
  • 2Brown pork sausage and drain. Add diced vegetables and saute until tender.
  • 3Add stock, thyme, and bay leaves. Bring to a simmer. Add rice.
  • 4Cook for a few minutes. Add diced kielbasa. Simmer until rice is tender. About 15-20 minutes.
  • 5Add evaporated milk and cheese. Cook gently until cheese is melted. Add broccoli and heat through. Serve.
  • 6If you want the broccoli to fall apart, add in step 3. If you want chunks, add in step 5.
