potatoes
1 small
onion
1/4 c
butter
3 Tbsp
flour
salt and pepper to taste
2 c
whole milk (divided)
grated cheddar cheese (optiona)
bacon bits (optional)

How to Make Grandma's Potato Soup

Step-by-Step

  • 1Peel and cube potatoes. Place in pot. Cover with only enough water to cover potatoes. Boil potatoes and onion together until almost done.
  • 2In a separate sauce pan melt butter. Add flour. Stir till smooth. Add milk. Stir till begins to thicken.
  • 3Pour butter mixture into potatoes. Stir. Add enough milk to desired consistency. Add cheese and bacon bits if desired.
