Ingredients

  • 6 cups chicken broth (low salt)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups potatoes diced
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups ham pit or tavern (low salt)
  • 1 cup broccoli, frozen or carrots
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1 cup flour for thickening
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 6 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 4 cups milk

How To Make cheese potato soup

  • Step 1
    In a large pot(dutch oven)combine broth, ham, potatoes, onions, and butter. Cook until potatoes are tender
  • Step 2
    Mix the flour with 1 to 2 cups of milk. Shake or stir until smooth and add to the soup with the other milk.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the cheese and simmer until the cheese melts and the soup thickens. This soup will turn out real salty if you don't use low salt broth and a low salt ham...
