    chicken broth (low salt)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c
    potatoes diced
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c
    ham pit or tavern (low salt)
  • 1 c
    broccoli, frozen or carrots
  • 1 c
    onion chopped
  • 1 c
    flour for thickening
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 6 c
    cheddar cheese shredded
  • 4 c
    milk

How to Make Cheese Potato Soup

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large pot(dutch oven)combine broth, ham, potatoes, onions, and butter. Cook until potatoes are tender
  2. Mix the flour with 1 to 2 cups of milk. Shake or stir until smooth and add to the soup with the other milk.
  3. Stir in the cheese and simmer until the cheese melts and the soup thickens.
