In a large pot(dutch oven)combine broth, ham, potatoes, onions, and butter. Cook until potatoes are tender
Mix the flour with 1 to 2 cups of milk. Shake or stir until smooth and add to the soup with the other milk.
Stir in the cheese and simmer until the cheese melts and the soup thickens.
This soup will turn out real salty if you don't use low salt broth and a low salt ham...
