How To Make creamy potato soup
-
Step 1Directions for stove top or slow cooker: Place bacon and onion in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until bacon is evenly brown and onions are soft. Drain off excess grease.
-
Step 2Transfer the bacon and onion to a dutch oven or slow cooker, and stir in ham, kielbasa/sausage, chicken broth, water, potatoes, salt, dill weed, and pepper.
-
Step 3If making on stove top, cover, and simmer in dutch oven until potatoes are done, about 30 mins, stir occasionally. In slow cooker, cook on Low 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally.
-
Step 4In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and half-and-half. Stir into the soup along with the evaporated milk. If making on stove top, cover and simmer gently until thickened, about 15-20 mins. In slow cooker, cover, and cook another 30 minutes before serving. Add toppings to individual servings, if desired.
