Quick and simple, my "go to" recipe when oysters are in season

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 6 small potatoes sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 pint cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 pint oysters
  • - boiling water

How To Make oyster chowder

  • Step 1
    Cook bacon in a pot. Remove bacon and crumble
  • Step 2
    Add onions, celery, potatoes and seasonings to bacon fat. Cover with boiling water. Cook until almost tender.
  • Step 3
    Add milk and cream. Bring to a boil.
  • Step 4
    In a cup blend butter and flour. Add to chowder.
  • Step 5
    Add oysters and cook until oysters begin to curl
  • Step 6
    Garnish with crumbled bacon
