This is a tried and true family recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 31 ounces great northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can chicken broth
  • 7 ounces green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • OPTIONAL TOPPINGS
  • 1/2 cup mexican blend shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup bacon, crumbles
  • 1/2 cup chives, chopped

How To Make marian's white chili

  • Step 1
    In large saucepan, saute chicken, onion and garlic.
  • Step 2
    Add beans, broth, chilies & spices.
  • Step 3
    Bring to boil, simmer un-covered for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat, stir in sour cream and whip cream. Serve with toppings of choice.
