Another hit with my family! A nice thick, hearty chili. A great meal for all the cold days everyone's been experiencing. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons bacon fat for browning meat - oil if you don't have
  • 1/2 pound each - sausage & ground beef - more if you like it meatier
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup each - chopped, red bell pepper - chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour & chili powder
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons minced, dried garlic flakes
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon each - cayenne, salt, crushed red pepper & sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 - 15 ounces cans of each - dark red kidney beans ( rinsed ) - pinto beans( rinsed ) - chili beans
  • 1 - 28 ounces can - plum tomatoes and juice - chopped
  • 1 - 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup each - strong black coffee & water
  • condiments - to serve with - sour cream, shredded cheese, green onion

How To Make ~ just another tasty chili ~ cassies

  • Step 1
    In a dutch oven, brown onion, peppers, sausage and ground beef in 1 - 2 tablespoon of bacon fat, until meat is no longer pink. Drain, and add back to pot.
  • Step 2
    Stir in the chopped tomatoes,tomato sauce, all spices, flour, Worcestershire sauce, beans, coffee and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour - stirring occasionally.
  • Step 3
    Taste and adjust seasonings if desired. It should be pretty thick, add 1/2 cup or more water to thin out if desired.
  • Step 4
    Ladle into bowls and add favorite condiments. As with any good chili, is even better the next day. Enjoy!
