My grandmother used to make this for us on a cold day, it sticks to your ribs and is also a great potluck item!

prep time 30 Min
cook time 3 Hr
method Slow Cooker Crock Pot
yield 10-20 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 package bacon, cooked
  • 2 cans baked beans
  • 2 cans kidney beans, canned
  • 1 can black-eyed peas
  • 1 can chick peas
  • 1 bottle barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1-4 cup brown sugar

How To Make grandma's crockpot beans

  • Step 1
    put baked beans into crockpot
  • Step 2
drain the kidney, black beans and chick peas, add to crockpot
  • Step 3
add whole bottle barbecue sauce (i prefer honey bbq sauce)
  • Step 4
    add mustard, stir
  • Step 5
brown hamburger, drain and add to crockpot
  • Step 6
cut bacon into chucks, cook and use a spatula to transfer to crockpot, a little grease adds to the flavor
  • Step 7
add 1 to 2 cups brown sugar, after it cooks a bit you can add more for a sweeter taste.
  • Step 8
Note: I cook this on low for 3-4 hours, if you leave the crockpot on high it can burn your beans
