Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground turkey (or beef)
  • 1 small
    onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    red sweet pepper, chopped
  • 1
    jalapeno pepper, chopped
  • 2 clove
    minced garlic
  • 2-14.5 oz. can(s)
    petite diced tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp
    ketchup, cocktail sauce or combination
  • 1 - 8 oz. can(s)
    tomato sauce
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/8 tsp
    hot paprika
  • 3/4 tsp
    sugar
  • 2-14.5 oz. can(s)
    red beans (drained and rinsed) can also use 1 can red beans and 1 can chili beans, undrained.

How to Make Favorite Chili

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown ground turkey or beef, onion, peppers, and garlic over medium high heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. In crock pot, mix remaining ingredients except chili beans.
  3. Add meat mixture to crock pot and mix well.
  4. Cook on low for 5 or 6 hours. Add beans toward end and cook for an additional 45 minutes.
  5. To add extra heat, cut slits in a large whole chili pepper and add to pot. Discard before serving.
