Ingredients

bone-in chicken pieces

celery stalks, with leaves, cut into chunks

medium carrots, cut into chunks
2
medium onions, cut into chunks
2
bay leaves
2
chicken bouillon packets
1 tsp
chicken seasoning
1 tsp
parsley
1/2 tsp
coarsely ground pepper
2 qt
cold water

How to Make Chicken Broth

Step-by-Step

  • 1Place all ingredients in a large pot. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce heat, and skim off any foam.
  • 2Cover and simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
  • 3Remove chicken and set aside.
  • 4Strain broth, discard vegetables and seasonings, strain again. Refrigerate to allow fat to rise and harden. Skim fat from surface before using.
  • 5Remove meat from bones and save for another use, if desired.
