Oven not working these days - thank heavens for Crock Pots! Found this recipe in a very old crock pot recipe book, sounded yummy, so I had to try.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 3 c
  • 2 small
  • 3 stalk(s)
    celery, chopped
  • 2
    carrots, sliced
  • 1 can(s)
    14-1/2 oz-tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 pkg
    10 oz frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 lb
    coarsley ground beef, or finely diced chuck, browned and drained
  • 2-4 Tbsp
    beef base, granules or paste
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 1/2 c

How to Make Steak Soup


  1. Put all ingredients, except butter and flour into a Crock Pot and cook on low 8 to 12 hours (High 4 to 6 hours).
  2. One hour before serving, turn to high. Make a paste of the butter and flour. Stir until smooth. Pour into Crock Pot and stir until thickened. Cook soup on high until thickened.
