Oven not working these days - thank heavens for Crock Pots! Found this recipe in a very old crock pot recipe book, sounded yummy, so I had to try.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 small onions,chopped
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 - carrots, sliced
  • 1 can 14-1/2 oz-tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 package 10 oz frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 pound coarsley ground beef, or finely diced chuck, browned and drained
  • 2-4 tablespoons beef base, granules or paste
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup flour

How To Make steak soup

  • Step 1
    Put all ingredients, except butter and flour into a Crock Pot and cook on low 8 to 12 hours (High 4 to 6 hours).
  • Step 2
    One hour before serving, turn to high. Make a paste of the butter and flour. Stir until smooth. Pour into Crock Pot and stir until thickened. Cook soup on high until thickened.
