Pho is one of my favorite dishes. In my opinion this recipe tastes just like restaurant pho. Using the Quoc Viet Foods Beef "Pho" Soup Base makes delicious pho in an hour!

Ingredients

  • PHO BROTH
  • 1 - beef bone
  • 1 gallon water
  • 1/2 - quoc viet soup base, 1 spice packet
  • 1/2 - yellow onion
  • 1 - "thumb" of ginger, sliced
  • SOUP INGREDIENTS
  • 1 - dry rice noodle package "s" size (1mm)
  • 1 pound thinly (1/16") sliced steak
  • GARNISHES
  • 1 - bunch of cilantro
  • 1 - bunch of thai basil
  • 1 - jalapeno, sliced
  • 4 - green onions, sliced
  • 2 - limes, quartered

How To Make one hour beef pho

  • Step 1
    Parboil bone: Place bone in pot. Put just enough water into pot to cover bone. Bring to boil. Boil for 10-15 mins. Discard dirty, scum water, and rinse bone off and clean pot.
  • Step 2
    While parboiling bone. Slice ginger and cut the (1/2) yellow onion in half. Char the ginger and onion on both sides. I placed them directly on the burner and used tongs to flip them. You can also use the broiler in the oven.
  • Step 3
    Place cleaned bone and charred ginger and onion in pot. Fill pot with 1 gallon of water. Bring to boil.
  • Step 4
    After 20 mins of boiling add 1/2 of soup base. At this point put rice noodles in warm water to begin soaking.
  • Step 5
    After another 20 mins of boiling add spice packet from base container. At this point begin assembling and slicing garnishes.
  • Step 6
    After the hour of boiling, soup should be done. Remove bone, ginger and onion. Drain soaked noodles.
  • Step 7
    Prepare bowls by placing soaked noodles at the bottom and raw steak on top. Ladle hot soup over the noodles and steak (This will cook the steak). Serve. Have garnishes on the side for everyone to add to their individual bowls.
