My family loves this recipe. My mom used to make this when I was growing up and we loved it as kids. Now I get to pass it along, just love old fashioned passed down recipes such as this. Hope you all enjoy as much as we do!

turnip, diced

stewed tomatoes, 14 oz
bay leaves

beef bones, optional

worcestershire sauce

potatoes, cubed

corn, undrained 8 oz

peas, undrained 8 oz

green beans, undrained 8 oz

baked beans, 8 oz

How to Make Beef Soup


  • 1Brown beef in a (very) large stock pot. When well browned, add chopped onion & carmelize. Add minced garlic & cook for 1 minute.
  • 2Add beef broth and simmer 15 minutes.
  • 3Add turnip, rutabaga, celery, carrots, stewed tomatoes, bay leaves, beef bones (optional), potatoes & worcestershire sauce to pot and simmer 1 1/4 hours.
  • 4Add corn, peas, green beans, baked beans & water. Add salt & pepper to taste. Stir & simmer for 30 minutes.
