This is a soup women use to make on the day they were baking bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef or mutton, trimmed, cut into small pieces
  • 2 - onions, sliced
  • 4 - carrots, chunked
  • 4 - parsnips, quartered
  • 6 - potatoes, cut up
  • 6 - tomatoes, peeled, quartered
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 large beet, scraped, cut up (opt)
  • 3 quarts water

How To Make baked soup

  • Step 1
    Add ingredients into an earthen vessel and set in the oven while the bread is baking.
  • Step 2
    If the bread is done before the dinner hour, keep the soup in the oven till ready to serve.
