- 2 pounds beef or mutton, trimmed, cut into small pieces
- 2 - onions, sliced
- 4 - carrots, chunked
- 4 - parsnips, quartered
- 6 - potatoes, cut up
- 6 - tomatoes, peeled, quartered
- - salt and pepper
- 1 large beet, scraped, cut up (opt)
- 3 quarts water
How To Make baked soup

Step 1Add ingredients into an earthen vessel and set in the oven while the bread is baking.

Step 2If the bread is done before the dinner hour, keep the soup in the oven till ready to serve.
