Ingredients
- 5 cans great northern beans, drained but not washed
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 - smoked ham hocks
- 1 - 8 oz. package of pre-cubed ham
- 2 - carrots, sliced small
- 2 - ribs of celery, sliced
- 2 - bay leaves
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder, or more to taste
- 1 - rounded half tsp. cumin
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large onion, diced
How To Make hearty bean soup

Step 1Throw everything except the butter together in a stock pot and cook for about 3 hours. When done, add the butter, stir until melted and then serve.
