    great northern beans, drained but not washed
  • 8 c
    chicken broth
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2
    smoked ham hocks
  • 1
    8 oz. package of pre-cubed ham
  • 2
    carrots, sliced small
  • 2
    ribs of celery, sliced
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder, or more to taste
  • 1
    rounded half tsp. cumin
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 large
    onion, diced

How to Make Hearty Bean Soup


  1. Throw everything except the butter together in a stock pot and cook for about 3 hours. When done, add the butter, stir until melted and then serve.
