I use Rotel mild tomatoes with chilies, and Johnsonville sweet sausage links.Test the spices one teaspoon at a time. This soup is delicious; my husband's favorite. I like to serve it with fritos.

sour cream, chopped green onions, and cilantro

How to Make Best Ever Black Bean Soup


  • 1Saute Italian Sausage links that have been broken up, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, and 3 cloves of garlic, minced. Add tomatoes with chilies.
  • 2Puree one can of undrained black beans and add to sausage, add drained white hominy, and the other can of undrained black beans.
  • 3Add chicken broth, cumin,oregano, and chili powder. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • 4Serve soup with a dollop of sour cream, chopped green onions and cilantro. Good with taco chips
