Ingredients

  • 1 - stalk celery thinly sliced
  • 1 - carrot peeled and sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper(optional)
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 42 ounces chicken broth
  • 12 ounces can of beer @room temp
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded

How To Make tavern soup

  • Step 1
    Combine celery,carrot,bell pepper and onion in a slow cooker.Add chicken broth,beer and salt and pepper.Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
  • Step 2
    Remove vegetables and puree in blender.Place back in with the broth.Turn temp up to high, Dissolve cornstarch in water,stir into pureed mixture add cheese gradually,stirring until blended. Cover and cook on high for 20 minutes. Serve hot.
