Ingredients

2 qt
water
2 c
green split peas
1 stalk(s)
celery coarsely chopped
1 large
carrot chopped
1 small
onion chopped
1/4 tsp
ground thyme
1 pinch
cayenee pepper
1
ground bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste

Step-By-Step

1Combine all ingredients in a large pot.Bring to a boil and boil for twenty minutes.Turn down heat and simmer until peas are tender(about another 10-15 minutes.)Strain through a fine mesh sieve and reheat to boiling point.It is now ready to serve.
