Ingredients

  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 cups green split peas
  • 1 stalk celery coarsely chopped
  • 1 large carrot chopped
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1 pinch cayenee pepper
  • 1 - ground bay leaf
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make split pea soup

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in a large pot.Bring to a boil and boil for twenty minutes.Turn down heat and simmer until peas are tender(about another 10-15 minutes.)Strain through a fine mesh sieve and reheat to boiling point.It is now ready to serve.
