spanish garlic, bread soup

I have wanted to send a recipe for quite some time, but didn't have the nerve to do it. This soup is very common among the sheperds in Spain it is very simple to make and is very hearty.I live in Spain and enjoy trying recipies from different parts of the country.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bacon cut into small strips
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove garlic (or a teaspoon of garlic powder)
  • 1 - carton of chicken broth
  • 6 slices of day old hard crust bread( thick slices)
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprica
  • 4 - eggs for pouching

How To Make spanish garlic, bread soup

  • Step 1
    cut up onion and garlic cloves into small pieces. Cut bacon into small strips.
  • Step 2
    Saute onions, garlic clove and bacon strips in a bit of olive oil, on low heat until onion is transparent and bacon strips are brown.
  • Step 3
    Add paprica and immediatly add broth so that the paprica doesn't burn and become bitter.
  • Step 4
    simmer on low heat until warm. Add cut bread and cook until bread is tender.
  • Step 5
    pouche eggs in the soup and serve the soup with an egg in each bowl.
