Ingredients

2 qt
water
3 Tbsp
chicken base
1 lb
potatoes cubed 1/2 inch thick
1 c
diced celery
1 c
sliced carrots
1/2 c
diced onion
to taste
salt and pepper
1 Tbsp
parsley flakes
few drops
yellow food coloring

DUMPLINGS

1 c
all purpose flour
1 Tbsp
shortening
1/2 tsp
salt
1/3 c
water

How to Make Slippery Dumpling Soup

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a soup pot add 2 quarts water, chicken base, potatoes, celery, onions, salt and pepper
  • 2Cook for 1/2 hour.
  • 3Remove veggies from stock and set aside.
  • 4Sift flour in a mixing bowl
  • 5Add salt, and cut in shortening
  • 6Add water small amounts at a time until dough is soft yet not too sticky
  • Roll out wafer thin.
    7Roll out wafer thin.
  • Cut into squares
    8Cut into squares
  • 9Drop into boiling soup broth. Cook for 15 minutes DO NOT COVER POT.
  • 10Add veggies back to stock
    I like to add a few drops of yellow food coloring to make the soup more appealing
