  • 2 qt
  • 3 Tbsp
    chicken base
  • 1 lb
    potatoes cubed 1/2 inch thick
  • 1 c
    diced celery
  • 1 c
    sliced carrots
  • 1/2 c
    diced onion
  • to taste
    salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    parsley flakes
  • few drops
    yellow food coloring

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/3 c

How to Make Slippery Dumpling Soup


  1. In a soup pot add 2 quarts water, chicken base, potatoes, celery, onions, salt and pepper
  2. Cook for 1/2 hour.
  3. Remove veggies from stock and set aside.
  4. Sift flour in a mixing bowl
  5. Add salt, and cut in shortening
  6. Add water small amounts at a time until dough is soft yet not too sticky
  7. Roll out wafer thin.
  8. Cut into squares
  9. Drop into boiling soup broth. Cook for 15 minutes DO NOT COVER POT.
  10. Add veggies back to stock
    I like to add a few drops of yellow food coloring to make the soup more appealing
