Back when we used to host dinner parties, this was a soup that Barb made and everyone enjoyed.

Stove Top


  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 c
  • 2/3 c
  • 2 tsp
    chicken stock base (4 envelopes herbox brand)
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    season salt
  • 5 c
  • 1 1/2 c
    dry sherry
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar
  • 2/3 c
    toasted almonds
  • 1/3 c
    each: chopped green pepper, and pimiento
  • 2/3 c
    crisp cooked bacon

How to Make Sherried Cheese Soup, Barb's


  1. Cook onion in butter until soft but not brown. Blend in flour and seasonings. Gradually stir in milk. Cook until it boils and thickens. Stir in sherry and cheese. Heat until cheese melts. Serve hot with remaining as condiments.
