This is a great Autumn/Winter soup. I love warm garlic bread with this.

2-3 pkg
turkey kelbalsa, smoked or regular sliced about 1/2" thick
to taste
garlic cloves or jarred - chopped
celery stalks - thick sliced
1-2 box
low - no sodium, fat free chicken broth
1 can(s)
large can, italian tomatoes with juice
1 -2
carrots, thick sliced with skin
potatoes - thick chunks with skin
1/4 -1/2
red onion - chunks
1-2 cups
sliced cabbage
1/2 tsp
red pepper flakes
other seasonings to taste
water if needed

How to Make Sausage Stew


  • 1Saute kelbalsa, garlic, celery and red onion in light olive oil until lightly browned in large pot or dutch oven. Add chicken broth, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and spices and water if needed. Cover and cook on low for 45 min to 1 hr or when veggies are slightly tender. Turn off heat, add cabbage, cover again and let set until cabbage is slightly tender.
