cornstarch
1/2 c
water
4 large
tomatoes, blanched, peeled and quartered
4 Tbsp
sugar
2 Tbsp
butter
1 tsp
seasoned salt
1 dash(es)
pepper

How to Make RUSS'S STEWED TOMATOES

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a medium saucepan, combine the tomatoes, sugar, butter, seasoned salt and pepper. Cover and bring to boil, stirring frequently.
  • 2In a smaller sauce pan combine cornstarch and water, mix until smooth. Stir into the tomato mixture. Cover and cook five minutes longer or until thickened and bubbly.
  • 3Note: This is a basic recipe, sugar, salt, and cornstarch (a thickening agent) can all be adjusted for taste and thickness. Some cooks also add pieces of bread to the mixture while cooking.
