Ingredients For russ's stewed tomatoes

  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 4 lg
    tomatoes, blanched, peeled and quartered
  • 4 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    seasoned salt
  • 1 dash
    pepper

How To Make russ's stewed tomatoes

    In a medium saucepan, combine the tomatoes, sugar, butter, seasoned salt and pepper. Cover and bring to boil, stirring frequently.

    In a smaller sauce pan combine cornstarch and water, mix until smooth. Stir into the tomato mixture. Cover and cook five minutes longer or until thickened and bubbly.

    Note: This is a basic recipe, sugar, salt, and cornstarch (a thickening agent) can all be adjusted for taste and thickness. Some cooks also add pieces of bread to the mixture while cooking.
