Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 large tomatoes, blanched, peeled and quartered
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 dash pepper
How To Make russ's stewed tomatoes

Step 1In a medium saucepan, combine the tomatoes, sugar, butter, seasoned salt and pepper. Cover and bring to boil, stirring frequently.

Step 2In a smaller sauce pan combine cornstarch and water, mix until smooth. Stir into the tomato mixture. Cover and cook five minutes longer or until thickened and bubbly.

Step 3Note: This is a basic recipe, sugar, salt, and cornstarch (a thickening agent) can all be adjusted for taste and thickness. Some cooks also add pieces of bread to the mixture while cooking.
