polish sausage stew
Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my cousin Jeanetta.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 medium head green cabbage, cut in 8 wedges
- 4 to 5 small potatoes, peeled
- 1 cup beef broth
- t teaspoon honey or sugar
- dash pepper
- 1 - bay leaf
- 12 to 16 ounces sausage (polish or kielbas, your choice of beef or pork)
How To Make polish sausage stew

Step 1In Dutch oven, over medium heat. stir butter and cabbage until wilted.

Step 2Add remaining ingredients, except sausage. Stir to combine.

Step 3Place sausage, whole, on top and cover.

Step 4Stir vegetables occasionally.

Step 5Simmer 30 to 45 minutes, until potatoes are done. Serve.
