Loved Mom's soup on a cold winter day.... She was a wonderful cook - actually I prefer to think of her as a chef. Miss ya Mom!

Ingredients
- 1 package pound dry split peas
- 1 cup celery leaves and stalks chopped
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 1 teaspoon dry oregano
- 1 tablespoon parsley leaves
- 1 - bay leaf
- - salt to taste
- - pepper to taste
- 1 - ham hocks
- 2 quarts water
- - small amount of chopped (seedless) hot peppers to taste
- - (optional) small amount of chopped ham,
How To Make mom's split pea soup

Step 1Combine all ingredients in a large pot

Step 2Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer stirring frequently until thick ( a couple of hours) Make sure it does not burn!

Step 3I remove the ham bone and add chopped ham as desired
