This is a nice brothy soup, I had this soup at a local Japanese resturant .

  • 3 c
    beef broth
  • 7 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 large
  • 2
    garlic cloves crushed
  • 1
    mushroom sliced thinly
  • 1 Tbsp
    green onions sliced diagonally(just the green part of the onion)

How to Make Japanese Mushroom and Onion Soup


  1. Combine beef and chicken stock in pot.
  2. add carrot, onion and garlic
  3. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Discard the carrot, onion and galric and strain the soup through cheesecloth.
  5. place a small amount of each of the green onions, mushrooms in serving bowls and ladle the broth over them. Serve.
