Ingredients

  • 2 pounds venison , cubed
  • 4 cups water or beef broth
  • 6 oz cans tomato paste
  • 6 - carrots, cut into chunks
  • 2 - onions, cut into chunks
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • - oregano to taste
  • - garlic powder to taste
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup oil

How To Make hunter's stew

  • Step 1
    In a large, heavy skillet, brown venison in oil until caramelized. Add water or broth and tomato paste. Simmer for 2 hours.
  • Step 2
    Add carrots, onions, celery, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper, cook for about 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Thicken with flour and water to desired consistency.
  • Step 3
    Serve over biscuits, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
