    ham, cooked and diced
  • 1 c
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 c
    onion, chopped
  • 10 oz
    okra, cut up
  • 15 oz
    tomatoes, canned
  • 1 can(s)
    chicken broth
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    rice, uncooked

How to Make Ham Skillet Gumbo

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine all ingredients except rice in a large, heavy skillet; bring to a boil.
  2. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in rice and simmer, covered, 20 minutes longer, or until rice is tender.
  4. NOTE: May substitute cayenne pepper for black pepper.
