    bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    leek, trimmed, chopped
  • 2
    carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 c
    chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 c
    chopped parsley
  • 4 c
    beef broth
  • 1 lb
    potatoes, washed, diced
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    caraway seeds
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream

How to Make German Potato Soup


  1. Combine onion, leek, carrots, cabbage, parsley, broth, and potatoes to crockpot.
  2. Stir in seasonings.
  3. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or high 4 to 5 hours.
  4. Remove bay leaf.
  5. Using a slotted spoon remove potatoes and mash.
  6. Combine potatoes with sour cream.
  7. Return to crockpot and stir.
  8. Stir in bacon pieces and serve.
