How To Make fresh tomato soup...simple farm style
-
Step 1In a large sauce pan, and over med heat. Add onion sauté for about 3 minutes until onions just starts to lightly brown.
-
Step 2Stir in prepared tomatoes, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer until tomatoes are very soft.
-
Step 3When cool enough to handle, pulse in a blender until blended. Add I little milk or water if necessary. Serve immediately, or chill then re-heat when ready to eat. Normally I serve grilled cheese sandwiches with this soup. As children my brothers and I tore up slices of white(WONDER)bread, and the soup was served in a tall glass. We didn't have bowls then. We even ate our cereal(oatmeal) from a glass... HA! The good ole days.. The 30's Now I like to add a little butter, a spoonful sitting on the top!....YUMMY!!
