crockpot split pea soup

This is the only way that I will make my pea soup anymore its really good , I serve it with hot corn bread ...yummy

Ingredients

  • 16oz packages dried green split pea's ; rinsed
  • 1 - ham bone or meaty ham hocks
  • 3 medium carrots ; peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion ; chopped
  • 2 sticks celery + leaves ; chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic ; minced
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup parsley ; chopped
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh pepper
  • 1 1/2 quarts hot water (6 cups)

How To Make crockpot split pea soup

  • all ready to be cooked!
    Step 1
    Layer ingredients in the crock pot ; pour in water ; DO NOT STIR.
  • ready to eat!  YUMMMMM
    Step 2
    Cover and cook on HIGH setting 4-5 hours or on LOW setting for 8-10 hours ; until the peas are very soft and the meat falls off the bone.
  • Step 3
    Remove bone and bay leaf before serving.
