Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 6 - garlic cloves, chopped
- 1.375 cups bell pepper, chopped
- 3 pounds shrimp, unpeeled
- 1 small tomato sauce, can
- 1/4 - parsley, chopped bunch
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
- 2 pounds okra
- pinch salt
- pinch pepper
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 3 quarts water
- 1 pound crabmeat
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 3 - bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
How To Make schumann's seafood gumbo

Step 1Boil shrimp in salted water for 5 minutes; save stock.

Step 2Clean shrimp and set aside.

Step 3Cut okra into thin rounds and brown in shortening; do not scorch.

Step 4In another pan, make a roux with flour and shortening; add garlic and cook until golden brown.

Step 5Add onion, bell pepper, celery and parsley; cook until transparent.

Step 6Add tomato sauce, simmer 10 minutes.

Step 7Stir in shrimp stock and blend well; add thyme and bay leaves, cook 1 hour.

Step 8Last 20 minutes, add shrimp, crab, salt, pepper, hot pepper sauce, worcestershire sauce and okra.

Step 9Cover pot and allow to simmer gently at least 1 hour.
