Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cups milk
- 1 can 14 1/2 oz. chicken broth
- 1/2 cup shredded carrot
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup shredded part skim mozzarella cheese
How To Make savory cheese soup

Step 1In a large saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender.

Step 2Stir in the flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder until smooth.

Step 3Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

Step 4Meanwhile, bring chicken broth to a boil in a small saucepan. Add carrot and celery; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

Step 5Add to milk mixture and stir until blended. Reduce heat; add cheeses. Cook and stir until cheese is melted.
