Talk about comfort food! This is an old family recipe that's great hot or cold. Traditionally, we served this with warm sour dough bread. Yum!!!

leeks, thinly sliced
1 medium
onion, thinly sliced
1/4 c
5 medium
potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
4 c
chicken broth
1 Tbsp
2 c
milk, whole
2 c
medium cream (or half and half)
1 c
heavy cream

How to Make Nanna's Vichyssoise


  • 1Cook leeks and onions in butter until slightly transparent.
  • 2Add potatoes, broth and salt. Cook 35 to 40 minutes. Pour small batches into blender or food processor and blend until smooth; then pour back into pot.
  • 3Return to heat. Add milk and creams. Serve hot or cold.
