My family absolutely loves when I make this for dinner. It's so easy to make and sooo good. Nothing like homemade soup on a cold day. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. I double this recipe to feed my crew.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tablespoons onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour, seperated
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup half and half cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

How To Make homemade cream of mushroom soup

  • Step 1
    Melt butter in large pot. Add in onions, garlic, and mushrooms. Cook until onions are soft. Add salt, pepper, nutmeg and thyme.
  • Step 2
    Blend in 2 T. flour and stir.Add in the chicken broth and heat until slightly thickened while stirring frequently.
  • Step 3
    Stir cream with additional 1 T. flour and add to soup. Heat to thicken while stirring frequently. Serve and enjoy!
  • Step 4
    I doubled this to feed my crew, recipe is for about 4 servings.
