How to Make Ham & Potatoe Soup

  1. Put water and ham bone in 5-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cover & simmer for about 30 minutes or until meat is easily removed from the bones.
  2. As ham bone is cooking, peel and dice potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes. Dice onion and celery heart.
  3. Remove ham and bone from water. DO NOT use a strainer as you will be using the remaining water.
  4. Add chicken base, garlic, pepper, cumin, clove and butter to sauce pan. Stir well.
  5. Add potatoes, onion, and celery. Cut any large pieces of ham into 1/2 inch pieces and add to water.
  6. Simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  7. Add heavy whipping cream, simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.
  8. Garnish with sour cream, chives or shredded cheese.
    Serve with crusty rolls.
