ham bone
potatoes, large, diced
white onion, large, diced
celery heart, diced
3 Tbsp
chicken base
3 clove
garlic, minced
1 Tbsp
black pepper
1/8 tsp
1/8 tsp
1 Tbsp
1 pt
heavy whipping cream

How to Make Ham & Potatoe Soup


  • 1Put water and ham bone in 5-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cover & simmer for about 30 minutes or until meat is easily removed from the bones.
  • 2As ham bone is cooking, peel and dice potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes. Dice onion and celery heart.
  • 3Remove ham and bone from water. DO NOT use a strainer as you will be using the remaining water.
  • 4Add chicken base, garlic, pepper, cumin, clove and butter to sauce pan. Stir well.
  • 5Add potatoes, onion, and celery. Cut any large pieces of ham into 1/2 inch pieces and add to water.
  • 6Simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • 7Add heavy whipping cream, simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.
  • 8Garnish with sour cream, chives or shredded cheese.
    Serve with crusty rolls.
