My family won't eat pea soup or bean soup, so coming up with something for that leftover ham bone was a bit of a challenge. Creamy potato soup was the answer...

Ingredients
- 10 cups water
- 1 - ham bone
- 8 - potatoes, large, diced
- 1 - white onion, large, diced
- 1 - celery heart, diced
- 3 tablespoons chicken base
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon clove
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream
How To Make ham & potatoe soup

Step 1Put water and ham bone in 5-quart saucepan over medium heat. Cover & simmer for about 30 minutes or until meat is easily removed from the bones.

Step 2As ham bone is cooking, peel and dice potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes. Dice onion and celery heart.

Step 3Remove ham and bone from water. DO NOT use a strainer as you will be using the remaining water.

Step 4Add chicken base, garlic, pepper, cumin, clove and butter to sauce pan. Stir well.

Step 5Add potatoes, onion, and celery. Cut any large pieces of ham into 1/2 inch pieces and add to water.

Step 6Simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Step 7Add heavy whipping cream, simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.

Step 8Garnish with sour cream, chives or shredded cheese. Serve with crusty rolls.
