I've had such a hard time finding recipes for Texas Chili that you can make as much as you want that I created my own. You can add the beans of your choice, but real Texas chili doesn't have beans. Although, beans can stretch chili to feed more people.

No beans are needed in this amazing Texas chili. It's so good, you'll want to double the batch. This hearty chili does bring the heat, so make sure to adjust the chili powder, cayenne pepper, and poblano pepper to your spice level. Serve with your favorite chili toppings for a delicious meal. We did need to add about a can of water while cooking.

Ingredients For real texas chili

  • 1 lb
    ground beef, deer, or your favorite mixture
  • 1 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 1 sm
    onion or to taste, chopped
  • 1-15 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    chili powder (I like more)
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground oregano
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 can
    Rotel (10 oz)
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper, to taste
  • 1
    poblano pepper, chopped

How To Make real texas chili

  • Cooking ground beef, onions, and garlic.

    Place the ground beef in a large pot with garlic, and onion. Cook over medium heat until browned. Drain off the excess fat.
  • Beef, tomato sauce, Rotel, and seasonings in a slow cooker.

    Add beef to a slow cooker. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, Rotel, and cayenne to the slow cooker. Stir together well.

    Cover, and cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. If the mixture becomes overly dry, add water at a time as needed. If it’s too watery, thicken it with corn starch dissolved in a little water.
