The recipe I was given called for a 26-ounce jar of Classico di Napoli Tomato and Basil pasta sauce (which I couldn't find in my market), so I came up with my own version using pizza seasoning (I use Penzey's), which I liked.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup medium shell pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3/4 cup chopped onions
  • 26 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons pizza seasoning
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 ounces sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 2 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon instant beef bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

How To Make pizza chili

  • Step 1
    Cook the pasta according to package directions and drain.
  • Step 2
    Brown the ground beef with the onion in a skillet, stirring until the beef is crumbly and the onion translucent; drain.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the tomato sauce, pizza seasoning, water, mushrooms, pepperoni, beef bouillon, and chili powder.
  • Step 4
    Bring to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Stir in pasta shells and serve.
