This is the chili that my mother madewhen I was a child. It is a good change of pace from the Cincinnati style chili that my family also likes.

Ground Beef
1/2 c
chopped onion
1--46 oz can(s)
tomato juice
1--28 oz can(s)
diced tomatoes
1 Tbsp
chili powder, or to taste
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp
1/2 c
elbow macaroni

How to Make Mom's Southern Chili


  • 1Brown onion and ground beef, drain off grease.
  • 2Combine onion, ground beef, tomato juice, diced tomatoes, elbow macaroni. Add seasoning to taste.
  • 3Heat until macaroni is cooked. About 15 minutes.
  • 4Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and oyster crackers.
