Several years ago I entered a chili cooking contest where I work simply because it was all in fun. I thought I had no chance of winning, there were some good cooks entering the contest. As I prepared my ingredients I kept adding more things as I went, just for fun. When the judging began I left the building to visit with all the people that were there. To my surprise, they came out hunting me, I had won! I had to quickly remember all that I had put in the chili to give them the recipe. It's the only recipe that I make when we want chili, my family loves it!

How To Make jo ann's southern chili

  • Step 1
Brown ground chuck and drain well. Add all ingredients EXCEPT masa mixture and simmer for 30-40 minutes.

Add masa mixture and simmer for an additional 20 minutes.
  • Step 3
If you want your chili to be hot, add more red pepper. This recipe is exactly what I use when I make it. Enjoy.
