green chili vegetarian style

I love green chili but I don't eat pork so I created this so any vegetarian could enjoy green chili. Not sure how many this serves

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 3/4-1 cup flour
  • 32 ounces canned chicken broth
  • 2 cups chicken bouillon made from the powder kind
  • 1 - bag frozen green chilies
  • 4 ounces canned chopped jalapenos...plus this can of water
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried cilantro flakes
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper...desired amount. i use about 1 tsp
  • - garlic salt/powder...desired amount
  • - onion powder...desired amount

How To Make green chili vegetarian style

  • Step 1
    Melt butter in a large wok like skillet. Stir in the flour until well blended. Whisk in the broth until smooth. Add all other ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Bring to a soft boil. Stir often! Lower heat and Simmer for a while... and serve. I like to simmer for about 2 hours, but you don't have to if you're pressed for time.
